In the coming weeks and months I will be posting all kinds of information about my great city. There will be restaurant reviews, recipes, stories and an event calendar.

You will also find here links to many neighborhood associations.

I haven’t been to all of them, but want to put in a word for those I have had the pleasure of visiting.

First kudos to Johnny at Kennett for turning an ugly, smelly, dirty old bar into a wonderful Queen Village neighborhood pub. The bar is always lively and the drinks are good. The pizza oven has been up and running for quite a while and the summer menu promises more fresh dishes using local fruits and veggies.

Next Village Belle. Many thanks to Lou et al for the revitalization. Can’t wait for the outdoor seating which should be coming soon. The oysters at happy hour were fresh and delicious, the meatball sliders are yummy fun and the food is great. I do think a smudging ceremony needs to be performed to erase the vestiges of Frederick’s.

Well it wasn’t good for anyone when a car crashed right into the doorway at the corner of Christian and 2nd. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt and the former and rarely opened Gaetano’s had closed. Rumor has it Palm (not of steak fame, but of Northern Liberties) will soon open. Rumor also has it that a sushi place will open on 2nd Street at Catharine where a boarded up restaurant has been for years. Something to look forward to.

Going further afield Philadelphia has recently welcomed Dandelion - a Starr British pub-themed place that really does look and act like a pub, except it’s clean. Then there’s beautiful Talula’s Garden where I hope someone will take me soon. I loved Farm and Fisherman and look forward to returning soon. 943 S. 9th does a good job with Argentinian fare. And I expect to soon try Monsu.

So if you like to eat out and you are thinking of a move, Philadelphia beckons! Call me and I’ll help you find a place and your new favorite restaurant!

"Dogs are our link to paradise. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring—it was peace.””

- Milan Kundera
